W. Bradley's Story
College
I visited SIU Carbondale during a Foreign Language day my freshman year in H.S. and never visited another campus; I'd found where I wanted to be. to do. So many opportunities were at my fingertips...if I'd only had more fingers! When I went back for my two Masters Degrees at Florida State in Tallahassee, I realized and endured one of the great truisms: you can never go back. Being older, having worked, traveled, and grown up (somewhat), I found that collegiate life was for collegians...particularly the younger variety that were still experimenting with their place in society, challenging traditions and accepted norms, reveling in their newfound role as free and independent bodies, and enjoying their first bite of the forbidden apple. Not that the last 17 have been down hill, but those 4 remain at the forefront of a storehouse of recollections.
